Agenda Title:
Authorize Mayor & Finance Officer to Sign Resolution No. 2015-035 A Resolution to Declare an Emergency and Authorize Replacement of Certain Fixtures and Equipment for Well 13
Summary:
The City purchased Well 13 and the lot on which it sits from Red Rock Development, LLC.  The Water Division operates the well, and its primary purpose is to provide raw water for irrigation at the Red Rocks Golf Course.  The well pump and motor have failed, and show over-amperage of the motor.  Without Well 13, the City cannot provide raw water to the golf course.  The City can provide treated water to the golf course, but only through a temporary connection using a fire hydrant.  This has a significant impact on the golf course, as the rate for treated water is eight times higher than the rate for raw water ($0.38/unit vs. $3.).  Not only does this make long-term treated water use a hardship for the golf course, but it also requires more attention to the temporary connection by City workers and makes the City’s water system more susceptible to problems.
