This ordinance will formally establish the Rapid City Strengthening Families Committee. The Strengthening Families Committee has existed as a temporary Task Force that was created by Mayor Hanks to identify and address the highest priority needs that would strengthen families and improve outcomes of children of the community. Ten committees were formed under the Strengthening Families Platform and have been successful in meeting goals set each year. This ordinance seeks to make this task force a permanent City committee, providing stability and city involvement and support.
The Rapid City Strengthening Families Committee will have representation on the Community Investment Committee and will make quarterly reports to the Investment Committee on their goals, progress and challenges.
Strengthening Families Committee Board members will be appointed by the Investment Committee.
This change will provide permanence to this important committee and provide for more City/Community coordination and sharing of information, financial support and community goals addressing high priority needs identified in the Consolidated and Comprehensive Plans.
