|
This substandard property has been abandoned and in a dilapidated state for a number of years. The Building Official has ordered demolition of the premises, and the property owner has neither appealed that order, nor demolished the property. The attached photos demonstrate the substandard and dilapidated state of the property. The attached resolution declares the property to be a public nuisance, and orders demolition. Pursuant to SDCL § 9-29-13, the City has the power to declare what constitutes a public nuisance, and abate and remove the same. In this case, the requested abatement is demolition of the premises. |

Demolition and Abatement Fund: Building Services has solicited quotes and expects the demolition to cost approximately $14,000.00. It should be noted that pursuant to SDCL § 21-10-6, the abatement costs may be recouped via the special assessment process. |
