Summary:
Section 9.28.050 of the Rapid City Municipal Code makes discharging a firearm within city limits a violation subject to criminal action.  In addition to guns, several other weapons are listed, as well as a general description of “any such device for throwing or forcing through the air missiles or projectiles of any character whatever.”  The ordinance specifically exempts, among other things, discharging of a firearm “at a time, at a place, or in a manner specifically approved by the City Council.”  The Petitioner is applying for approval of the event described in the attached letter.  Council approval would exempt the discharge of BB guns as described from violation of the ordinance.
