The Rapid City Fire Department was awarded $21,285 from a FEMA grant to sprinkler protect 50 of the State’s Governor’s homes being built through the South Dakota Housing Authority. $20,000 will go toward sprinkler system installation and $1,285 will go toward travel fees to provide public education and awareness of the importance of having sprinkler systems in residences. The $20,000 is for materials and contracted labor to install the sprinkler systems. |

FEMA awarded Rapid City Fire Department $21,285 to complete this project. There are three home designs and Residential Designs has agreed to donate three engineered sprinkler designs at a value of $500 each for a total in-kind donation of $1,500. The Fire Department committed to $1,013 in-kind services. This will be made up from labor costs to tow the sprinkler demonstration trailer to the state legislature and 3 fairs where the Governor’s Homes are on display to provide public education. |
