Agenda Title:
Confirm the appointments of Clancy Kingsbury, Ali DeMersseman, Eric Monroe, Nate Nelson, Ken Orrock, John Riker, Tim Smith, Aaron Sanders, and Chris Wehrle to the Historic Preservation Commission.
Summary:
On Monday, August 17, 2015 the Rapid City Council approved Ordinance 6032 “An Ordinance to Promote Historic Preservation by Repealing Chapter 2.68 of the Rapid City Municipal Code and Adopting Provisions in Chapter 17.04 and 17.54 of the Rapid City Municipal Code.” In addition to codifying the historic review procedures and introducing a provision regarding demolition by neglect, the ordinance established membership requirements for appointments to the Historic Preservation Commission. As the ordinance becomes effective, all nine members of the Commission must be appointed and assigned staggered terms not to exceed three years. The ordinance requires that the Commission consist of two representatives from the West Boulevard Historic District, two representatives from the Downtown Historic District, two members with professional qualifications, and an alternate from each of the three categories.
