Agenda Title:
Authorize Mayor and Finance Officer to Sign Memorandum of Understanding Between the City of Rapid City and the Rapid City Area School District for Entry onto Property for Wildfire Mitigation and Fuel Elimination
Summary:
This MOU will allow the Fire Department to enter onto school-owned land to remove trees.  The properties included are Stevens High School and Corral Drive Elementary School.  Lt. Weaver has been in contact with Kumar Veluswamy regarding the need for fire fuel removal from these properties.  These wildfire mitigation and fuel modification activities will eliminate the ponderosa pine stands between the parking lots and next to Stevens High School, and will modify the fuel load in the ponderosa pine stands on the Corral Dr School and Stevens High School property at large.
