The 2014 population estimate for Rapid City is based on new building permit data. This permit data includes single family residential, multi-family residential, demolitions, and new group homes. A large portion of this increase is directly related to the 197 homes within the Countryside Subdivision annexation that became effective on December 5, 2014. Rapid City’s year end population estimate is 71,907. |
