Appeal of Historic Preservation Commission’s recommended denial of siding and door replacement at 1107 Kansas City Street and 703 11th Street
Summary:
On March 21, 2014 the Rapid City Historic Preservation Commission and the SD State Historical Preservation Office determined that the applicant’s request to cover the exsting wood siding with vinyl siding and replace the front doors would have an adverse effect on historic property. In accordance with SDCL 24:52:07:03, the applicant prepared an abbreviated case report to document feasible and prudent alternatives to the project. She requests City Council review her case report and approve her request to apply vinyle siding so she may obtain a building permit to complete the project.

Recommendation:
Action: Choose an item. Notes: If City Council approves the request, a building permit will be issued after the required  notification to SD SHPO following a ten day waiting period.
Options:
City Council may approve the request to complete the project or they may require additional investigation of prudent and feasible alternatives to minimize adverse effect to the historic property.
