This Resolution updates the current Employee Recognition Program, which was originally adopted in 1994, so that the department director has the authority to expend funds for these purposes, knowing that the expenditure will come out of their individual budgets. Previously, the Mayor had to be involved in the decision. Considering the current ordinances in which the director can expend funds up to $25k, it made sense to take the requirement that the Mayor approval process out of the policy. In addition, the dollar amounts had not been increased since 1996 and that was addressed as well. |
