Agenda Title:
Authorize Fire Chief to enter into Agreements Authorizing Use of the Emergency Responder Training Center
Summary:
The City built the Emergency Responder Training Center on the campus of Western Dakota Tech.  The facility includes a building that can be used for live fire training, among other things.  The RCFD and City Attorney’s Office worked together with WDT and the County Fire Coordinator to come up with an agreement that would protect the City and WDT while simultaneously allowing neighboring volunteer fire departments, County Fire, State agencies, and other emergency responders to utilize the training facility.  The Agreement requires other agencies to follow RCFD standard operating procedures and national fire standards in conducting training, and it also makes the agency putting on the training responsible for the safety of participants.  The Fire Chief is requesting authority to enter into these agreements in lieu of bringing each agreement to Council for separate approval.
