Agenda Title:

Mayor’s signature on the promulgation statement and adoption of the Pennington County Pre-Disaster Mitigation Plan (PDM)

Summary:

The PDM is a statutorily mandated FEMA-approved plan that identifies threats to a given community and associated mitigation strategies (the green way resulting from the ’72 flood is a great example). The plan is reviewed/revised every 5 years and our current plan was developed by a contractor over the last 1.5 years and has been submitted and accepted/approved by FEMA. The last step is to have the plan formally adopted by the participating municipalities in Pennington County, of which Rapid City is one.

Funding Source & Fiscal Impact (if applicable):

This plan, once adopted, allows a municipality to apply for FEMA mitigation grant dollars for projects identified in the PDM.
