This purchase is for a complete replacement of all RCFD’s Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA). The Department’s SCBAs are beyond their expected life span of 10 years. Due to changes in the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Code, the Department’s SCBAs are also outdated and incompatible with new models. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue competitively bid SCBAs in January of this year. This purchase would utilize the unit prices in the bid awarded by Sioux Falls. If the RCFD bid this purchase separately, we would expect the same bidders as those that offered bids to Sioux Falls. There are no local companies that supply SCBAs. |
