This MOU makes two changes to the current collective bargaining agreement. The first is to include captains in the collective bargaining unit. Currently, captains are excluded from the union. Additionally, they were recently changed from salaried, exempt employees to non-exempt. Both of these changes are in response to a situation that had arisen where lieutenants with experience, who would otherwise be good candidates for a captain position, would end up with a pay cut upon being promoted to captain. The second change the MOU makes is to revise the end date of the current collective bargaining agreement from December 31, 2017, to December 31, 2016. |
