Agenda Title:
RCFD requests permission to apply for and accept 2 Western States Fire Managers grants for wildland fire hazardous fuel reduction in Rapid City’s wildland urban interface areas.

Click here to enter text.The proposed projects will reduce the potential for loss of life and property by reducing the amount of vegetative fuels within the interface area and lessening the probability of multiple structure ignitions in the event of an approaching wildfire, which will quickly overwhelm available resources.   The present fuel loading in all wildland urban areas of the city is conducive of large fire development.
Funding Source & Fiscal Impact (if applicable):
Western States Fire Managers Grants will provide 50% match.  Hard match from private landowners, in-kind match from Rapid City through RCFD and Parks Dept. Urban Interface Management Plan personnel and equipment.
