A request was received in the Public Works Office on May 21, 2014 requesting the requirement to install sidewalk per City of Rapid City Ordinance 12.08.060 be waived. This request is associated with a building permit for a single family residence. The subject property is located on the west side of South Berry Pine Road just west of the intersection of Ridgewood Street. The property has approximately 150 feet of frontage on the west side of South Berry Pine Road. The topography slopes uphill to the west. South Berry Pine Road is a narrow unimproved local street with approximately 17 to 20 feet of pavement width with no curb and no gutter, and is constructed in approximately 60 feet of right-of-way. As noted in the attached letter from the property owner, no parcels on the west side of South Berry Pines Road currently have sidewalk. This parcel is located in the Taylor, EE Tract Subdivision. None of the homes in the subdivision have sidewalks or curb and gutter. This parcel is at the end of South Berry Pine Road and the South Dakota National Guard boarders on the south with no through traffic. |
